who is annie marie?
I began my photography journey as a child following my photographer dad around with a camera, wanting to learn as much as I could. I would spend hours out in nature photographing anything that caught my eye and late nights in the darkroom he built in our home.
Years later in 1994 after college and some adventures in Guatemala, I started Annie Marie Photography in Miami where I was living at the time. After 8 years of building a successful studio, I moved back home to Minnesota with my two kids and started all over again. This time with experience backing me up, I went digital and built my business up again stronger than before.
My business has taken so many twists and turns through the past 31 years. I have worked out of my home, in large studios, on location and studio shares. I have now settled into a cozy studio in the lovely area of Linden Hills in Minneapolis just steps away from my home. I have loved each stage that I have gone through and love where I am in my business today.
I have earned Minnesota Photographer of the Year fouryears in a row in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022, as well as 2020 SYNC Photographer of the year. I have also earned several awards from international competitions. The best one yet was earning my Fellow accreditation in 2021 with the Portrait Masters. I have several articles published and my latest in the November 2021 issue of the Shutter Magazine on Luxe Portraiture. I have also had the honor or being a guest on Podcasts from This Conversation and The Portrait System. I have been fortunate to bring my knowledge to the stage at the local and national level where I speak on creating artful images and editing.
For years I have used my graphic design degree creating and selling marketing templates for photographers in hope to make their life easier and business more successful. I also mentor photographers as a way to give back and offer something I wish I had when I was starting out.
Creating LUXE - The Fine Art Workshop is just my natural progression in sharing my knowledge to photographers wanting to bring this style of portraiture to their studio.
